  • Served on the Organizing Committee, as a Panel Chair and Participant for the Robert H. McKinney School of Law program, "Defending the Homeland: Counter Terrorism and the Law." The program, which was broadcast world-wide on the internet, received an Emmy Award (2011)
  • Graduate and Undergraduate courses in American History rated among the very best at IUPUI (2006, 2007)
  • Received 17 individual medals, three bades, and four unit commendations from the Department of Defense and Department of the Army as a recently retired full Colonel of the Army Infantry (2005)
  • Served as both faculty and a grad student at Harvard University in 1970s
