Policy Studies

Develop the skills to influence public policy

Public policy impacts everyone. That’s why private, public, and nonprofit organizations need employees to have the critical thinking skills to research and understand policies. The Policy Studies major, part of the BSPA degree, will give you the tools to help businesses and government agencies analyze and assess existing and proposed laws.

You’ll study management, public finance, leadership, and more. You’ll also take a mix of skills-based and theoretical courses that focus on the policy making process, information technology, performance measurement and program evaluation, and research methods.

Ideal for pre-law students, the degree can also be customized by choosing one of six concentrations:

  • Criminal Justice
  • Environment
  • Health
  • Urban
  • Nonprofit
  • International Policy

Leave with a tangible skillset

All BSPA degrees require at least one internship, so that by the time you graduate from SPEA, you’ll have the experience and connections to boost your career. Thanks to SPEAs proximity to nonprofit organizations and government agencies in downtown Indianapolis, you can complete an internship during the semester and graduate on time.

Social dreamers. Tangible skill sets.
