Civic Leadership

Give back to your community–and create lasting change

If you’re passionate about activism or politics and law, the Civic Leadership major will give you the interdisciplinary knowledge and skills needed to create positive change. The Bachelor of Science in Public Affairs (BSPA) will also prepare you to work in a public service role–leading business, nonprofit organizations, or government agencies.

The Civic Leadership major includes courses in business accounting and economics, political science, law and public policy, and management courses you can customize by sector. Ideal for pre-law students, the degree can also be customized by choosing one of four concentrations:

  • Nonprofit and Community Leadership
  • Political Process and Civic Leadership
  • International Affairs
  • Legal Studies

Leave with a tangible skillset

All BSPA degrees require at least one internship, so that by the time you graduate from SPEA, you’ll have the experience and connections to boost your career. Thanks to SPEAs proximity to nonprofit organizations and government agencies in downtown Indianapolis, you can complete an internship during the semester and graduate on time.
