Study in Washington, DC
Do you want to live, work and learn in the nation’s capital? SPEA’s Washington Leadership Program in Washington, D.C. will give you the opportunity to network with professionals leading the way in Washington – all while gaining valuable career experience and class credit.
Junior and senior undergraduate students from all majors at all IU campuses are eligible to apply.
Students complete the internships by working four days per week at a congressional office, trade association or federal agency, or at a health, environmental or nonprofit organization. During the semester-long program, you’ll take two seminars designed to give you an insider’s view of D.C. You’ll also take field trips and create opportunities by networking with distinguished speakers and leaders paving the way in the nation’s capital.
You’ll stay in the Washington Intern Student Housing (WIHN), just a 12-minute walk to the U.S. Senate, a 21-minute walk to the U.S. House and an eight-minute walk to Union Station. Visit the WIHN website to learn more.
Applications are now open for the Fall 2017 and Spring 2018 cohorts. The application deadline is February 3. Click here to apply.
