We're here to help

The mission of SPEA Student Services is to provide timely information and aspirational insights to current and potential SPEA students. Using innovative and evolving methods, we collaborate with students to identify solutions and motivate you to act on those solutions to reach your academic and professional goals.

Student Services fall and spring semester hours

Monday 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Tuesday 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Wednesday 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Thursday 8 a.m.-6 p.m. (office closes at 5 p.m., but advisors are available from 5 to 6 p.m. by appointment only)
Friday 8 a.m.-noon, 1 p.m.-5 p.m.

These hours might be adjusted during peak registration times to accommodate more appointments. If you need services after 5 p.m., please contact SPEA Student Services at 317-274-4656 or so we can accomodate your request by appointment.

Academic advising 

Make an appointment to see your Student Services advisor by clicking on the academic request form or calling 317-274-4656 (toll-free 877-292-9321). To request a class permission, please use the same form.
Each SPEA student has two advisors: a Student Services advisor and a faculty advisor. Student Services advisors will help you with registration, serve as your advocate, troubleshoot, refer you to other campus offices and answer questions. Your faculty advisor will help you with career and internship information and approval, assistance in your area of interest, graduate school opportunities, letters of recommendation and advice on your professional goals. If you don’t know your Student Services advisor or faculty advisor, please contact SPEA Student Services at 317-274-4656.

Peer advising

SPEA now offers Peer Advising to students. Our SPEA Peer Advisors are upperclassmen SPEA majors who have been through extensive training and are here to assist in guiding and educating our students to the best resources for academic and professional preparedness. For Peer Advising assistance, stop in at BS 3025 for our walk-in hours on Mondays and Wednesdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Career services and internships

Kathleen Hursh, Assistant Director of Career Services, will advise you on internships, your job search, resume and cover letter preparation, interview techniques, and more.
