Giving opportunities

Support SPEA

Alumni, faculty and friends of SPEA support the mission of the School by making gifts ranging from a few dollars to thousands of dollars. You can also designate how those dollars are spent, to support the areas that most interest you. For example, you might want to help SPEA students continue and complete their educations. Or you might support SPEA faculty, research, outreach efforts or other important work.

Annual fund gifts

Annual fund gifts are the primary source of unrestricted contributions for the School. They provide the greatest flexibility to use funds wherever the need is most urgent: student scholarships, faculty support, classroom enhancements or money for special needs not covered by other funds. The School seeks annual gifts in three ways: mail appeals, student telethons and online giving.

Donor recognition groups

To honor your support, SPEA has established the following donor recognition groups.

Dean's Fellows $2,000 or More
Dean's Circle $1,000 to $1,999
Advocate $500 to $999
Sustainer $250 to $499
Partner $100 to $249
Friend $99 & less

Donors may also choose to direct annual gifts to a particular discipline or purpose. To direct your annual gift to an area, such as scholarships, please indicate where the gift is to be directed when making your contribution.

Endowed scholarship or fellowship

To make a lasting impact on students’ lives, consider funding an endowed scholarship or fellowship. The minimum amount needed to endow a scholarship or fellowship is $25,000.

Chairs and professorships

SPEA faces intense competition from private and better-endowed institutions in recruiting and retaining distinguished faculty. Endowed chairs and endowed professorships both attract and reward academic leaders of unparalleled excellence.

Endowed chairs and professorships are named for the donor or for someone the donor designates. Gifts to endow these positions create a lasting legacy and associate the donor with SPEA's most esteemed scholars.

The minimums required to establish endowed faculty positions are:

Endowed chair $1,500,000
Endowed professorship $750,000
